Biography
Hi, my name is Humi!
I strongly believe in building a genuine connection with my clients as we move together through discovery, healing, and growth. I use a nonjudgmental approach and strive to meet clients where they are. I identify as an immigrant of Southwest Asian ethnicity and as a Muslim, and I am deeply connected to the Somali and broader Muslim communities. I am also a United States Marine Corps veteran and maintain strong ties to the veteran community. Additionally, I have a solid understanding of Deaf culture.
I hold deep empathy for the human experience, particularly for those who have been marginalized, disenfranchised, isolated, or negatively impacted by sexism, Islamophobia, racism, and other forms of oppression and discrimination. I understand the impact of microaggressions and recognize that they are not micro in their effects. I am passionate about helping clients discover positive tools and coping strategies that support optimal health and well being.
My Practice
I am committed to helping you build the best version of yourself while finding your voice, confidence, and resilience. Through a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship, I work with clients to better understand their needs and identify solutions that are the best fit for them. With careful attention to cultural background, history, intersectionality, and environment, I support clients in recognizing their strengths and healthy selves, understanding themselves as already whole as they navigate diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
