Biography

Hi, my name is Heather!

I took many paths in life, but ultimately nursing chose me. Growing up with drug abuse in my family I really did not have a lot of guidance but I knew I always wanted to be a nurse or work with people who struggled with addiction. I learned that joining the military would allow me to pursue a nursing a career and with a lot of help, that is exactly what I did.
I knew that mental health and addiction nursing was what I was interested in and after years of school and training, it has become one of my primary specialities when diagnosing and prescribing medicine.

I like to get to know you. We discuss your background, family history, mental/medication history, etc. so I can begin to understand you and what you are currently going through.

I like to empower those I work with by educating them on what medication is and really talk through what this new process could look and ultimately, how it could help reduce those unwanted feelings. Again, medication is not a substitute for therapy or other ways of healing, but sometimes medication can be foundational in other forms of healing actually being effective.

As a nurse, I really care about my patients which means I really care about talking through any concerns I have and keep an open line of communication in the event you need support outside of our sessions.

My Practice

I believe there are many different ways to achieve healing and medicine is only one of those ways. As your nurse I will make sure to provide you information, answer your questions and support you through your mental health journey and make referrals if medication is not one of the supports you choose. I enjoy working with everyone who is seeking medication support. As a mental health/chemical dependency nurse, I understand that medication has many benefits but it also has its’ limitations, as it is not a “quick fix.”

If you are struggling with feeling anxious, worry, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, low energy, depressed mood, crying spells, addiction (drugs or alcohol), I LOVE working with you. I also love helping people find the “right” provider if we come to the conclusion that we are not a good fit, or you aren’t a good fit for medication and maybe therapy or another form of support could be more beneficial.

I will NOT push medications on you as I am a holistic provider and am an ethical prescriber who believes in many forms of healing.
